As concerns about the Omicron variant grow, countries are revising their travel policies rapidly. Travelers from the United States are currently permitted to visit the United Kingdom regardless of whether or not they are vaccinated. Before entering the country, travelers aged 12 and up must take and produce confirmation of a negative Covid-19 test, carried no later than 48 hours before the flight. This is what more you should know before visiting the United Kingdom. However, keep in mind that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has classified the United Kingdom as a Level 4 Very High travel hazard (CDC). This means that travel to the United Kingdom should be avoided. And any passengers who must visit the U.K. should be vaccinated. The CDC’s mobility hazard rating is based on data from the World Health Organization and other authoritative sources. Including aggregate new cases, testing rates, and test-to-case proportions.

Who can go?
Until recently, most fully vaccinated explorers from developing countries could reach England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland without a pre-take off negative test. In any event, effective December 7, all visitors to the U.K. over the age of 12 – irrespective of vaccination status or country of origin – must present a pre-take off negative Covid test, which is required two days before travel. A PCR or horizontal stream test can be used for this test. Completely vaccinated travelers should also take a PCR test on day two of their arrival and stay put until they get a negative result. Children under 18 should follow the same rules as fully vaccinated travelers. Non-vaccinated visitors can also visit the U.K. But they must undergo additional testing and quarantine requirements.
There are currently no countries on the U.K.’s red list. Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe were all on the U.K.’s red list on Wednesday, December 15, but were erased. (When crossing the land border, the Republic of Ireland has its own set of entry rules that must be followed.)
Requirements to Enter the U.K. from the U.S.
Residents of the United States who travel to the United Kingdom can enter as long as they have not visited a red-flag country in the previous ten days. In the end, the British government is expected to remove all nations from the red migration list on Wednesday, December 15. New restrictions on December 7 demand all tourists aged 12 and up to present a negative PCR or sidelong stream test before traveling to the United Kingdom. The test should be performed two days before the transfer.
Entering the U.K. Fully Vaccinated
Vaccinated U.S. visitors entering the U.K. aged five and up (kids under 5 are exempt from testing and quarantine requirements) should do the following before their trip:
- Book and expend for a PCR test before you fly; you must complete the test by the second day of your trip to the U.K. You should take refuge wherever you are till you receive your results.
- Forty-eight hours before your trip, complete a traveller-finding structure.
You should use a private test provider for the test, and on your traveler finder structure, enter your Covid-19 test booking reference number. If you are in the U.K. for less than two days, you’ll need to book and pay for the exam. If the outcome of your experiment is positive or ambiguous, you should isolate yourself for ten days. Day zero is the day you walked through the test.
Entering the U.K. Unvaccinated
If you are entering the U.K. without having been vaccinated, you should undertake the following before leaving:
- Three days before your trip to the U.K., take a Covid-19 test.
- Before you fly, book and pay for your day two and day 8 PCR tests, and then take them on the specified dates. If you are in the U.K. for less than ten days. You’ll need to isolate for the duration of your stay and schedule second- and eighth-day tests. If you’re still in the U.K. during those days, you’ll very certainly have to take the PCR tests.
- Forty-eight hours before your arrival, complete a traveler-finding framework.
Following your arrival in the U.K., you should isolate for ten days in the location you’ll be staying (regardless of whether your day 2 test is negative) and take the PCR tests you pre-booked. You should complete the first test by day two at the latest and the second by day eight. Day 0 begins the moment you arrive. If the outcome of your experiment is positive, you should isolate yourself for ten days. Day 0 is the day you walked through the test. If your test on day 2 is positive, you will not need to order a day 8 test.
However, if your day 2 test is negative. You should request your day 8 test and continue self-isolating down for the next ten days. If your test on day 8 is negative, you can quit isolating when you receive a negative result. If your day 8 test comes back positive, you should isolate it for a total of 10 days. Day 0 is the day you required the day 8 test.
Requirements to Enter the U.S. from the U.K.
All passengers (aged two and up) flying to the United States from the United Kingdom will be needed to produce proof of a negative Covid-19 test done within one day of their journey. Unlike previous requirements, which took into account a more detailed strategy for vaccinated travelers. This new requirement will treat all travelers equally, regardless of vaccination status. As things stand now, either a PCR or an antigen test will be accepted as proof of Covid-19 negative status in any instance. It’s important to remember that the test requirements include taking it within one scheduled day, not just within 24 hours of your departure. This means that tourists will want to spend more time as they need the day before their journey regardless of when their trip departs. There are currently no new quarantine restrictions.
