What the Future Holds for the Highest-Paid Athletes

As contracts and sponsorship deals grow each year, the number of athletes – breaking the $ 100 million mark – continues to grow. While supermax contracts and weekly salaries are headlines, sponsorship deals make up a significant part of an athlete’s income – and this pie is steadily increasing. The top 50 off-field profits reached $ 1.04 billion this year, up from $ 556 million in 2012.
