Two teams interested in Jarvis Landry: Report-According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Cleveland Browns cleared $14.8 million in salary space by releasing the five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver on Monday. Landry should be a hot target now that he’s not bound by a huge contract’s final year.
The Browns gave Landry authority to pursue a trade after agreeing to a deal for Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper on Saturday. However, with Landry poised to earn $14.3 million in basic pay, no trade partner appears to have surfaced.
After spending his first four seasons with the Dolphins, Landry was traded to the Browns in 2018. In 2019, he had his greatest season with the team, catching 83 catches for 1,174 yards and six touchdowns.
Landry was limited to only 12 games in 2021 due to injury. He grabbed 52 passes for 570 yards and two touchdowns.
Landry, a five-time Pro Bowler, topped the league with 112 receptions in 2017 with Miami. In his career, the experienced receiver has 688 receptions for 7,598 yards and 37 touchdowns. He’s also thrown for 146 yards and a touchdown on 6-of-9 passing.
The Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, have emerged as the teams “that have expressed the most interest.”
Jarvis Landry didn’t have to look far to discover suitors that were interested in him.
For everyone else, Landry joining Kansas City is a terrifying prospect. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce have helped Patrick Mahomes destroy defences downfield for years, but the Chiefs have lacked a reliable No. 2 wide receiver.
With Landry moving the chains as a short-field target, Kansas City would be even more difficult to stop.
Another fascinating option is the Saints. With Landry in the slot and Alvin Kamara roaming the backfield, they might establish a strong offence if Michael Thomas returns healthy. Deshaun Watson is also being pursued by New Orleans.
Landry would be a good match for either team. In 2022, where will he play?
