Are you not intrigued to know who all could show up in the new Black widow sequel?

Black Widow’s solo movie has just hit theatres, and the early reviews are in! What do you think? Is it good enough to warrant a sequel? If there is a sequel, Black Widow might not still be played by the same actress. Director Cate Shortland has revealed that in the MCU, Black Widow is dead. Others have already taken that original character. It’s worth taking a look at the characters that might appear in a future Black Widow movie.

Hawkeye

Hawkeye

The credit scene in the movie shows Valentina Allegra de Fontaine asking Yelena for a chance at revenge. She asks her to kill Clint Barton, blaming him for Natasha’s death. MCU fanatics have blamed Tony Stark for Natasha’s death, but Yelena understands better..That’s why she’ll be meeting one of her best friends in the ‘Hawkeye’ series soon. It could be Clint Barton or Kate Bishop

Taskmaster

Taskmaster

However, Marvel has changed the story and made Antonia, Dreykov’s daughter, become a taskmaster villain. Similar to Hawkeye, she spends most of the movie undercover and can mimic moves with good predictions.

Antonia needs to have her own story told in future MCU movies. We need to see how she came to be who she is, just like we can do with Hawkeye.

The Freed Widows

The Freed Widows

Natasha Romanoff has been the only person seen through the Red Room for us to know what goes on there. Dottie Underwood was shown as a student when Agent Carter aired, but Black Widow is the first time we can see more than just one woman going through this program. Now freed by Yelena & Melina’s work, a few of those windows can play important roles later in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It would be utterly absurd for them to want to make up for their pasts, just like Natasha.

Melina

Melina

Natasha is one of the most famous Red Room students, but she’s not the first. Melina remembers her going through it four times while Natasha was still a baby. She’s a scientist and Widow who’s deep in the program from where Natasha graduated.

The movie changes everything for her, and she has a newfound purpose of helping all the women under her care. As she watches Natasha show Yelena the ropes, they take down the Red Room. However, you will find that her journey of saving other Widows is engaging on its own.

Mason

Mason

He is a reflection of an existing movie character. He’s a previous S.H.I.E.L.D agent, and he’s also friends with Natasha because they have a lot of dynamics and chemistry. Still, the film explores it only sparingly, which is too bad because we could have seen more of that (they develop a special bond in part).

Bucky Barnes

Bucky Barnes

Bucky Barnes had not interacted with Black Widow very much in the MCU. The relationship between them is a significant part of the comics and has been missed in the MCU. In the comics, Bucky Barnes joined HYDRA and became Winter Soldier. May have changed this in the MCU because if he had been a victim of Red Room, then he would understand the hard work that Widowmakers go through after being introduced to HYDRA as an escape from Widowmaker’s life. We don’t learn much about Bucky’s life before the events of Winter Soldier, but it seems that he understands what it takes to make a new life.

Yelena

Yelena

Yelena is Natasha’s little sister, who took while they were both on a spy assignment. Upon Natasha being freed, she realized that Yelena was still trapped in the Red Room. When she is released from there, she wants all Widows to be free. Yelena has a taste for adrenaline and is designed to hurt anyone who gets in her career path. She shares the same disregard for the law as Natasha did when she operated in.

Nick Fury

Nick Fury

Nick Fury was a pivotal character in the MCU. He will have his problems in Secret Invasion, but he would also want to know that Madame Hydra and the Red Room are still out there, trying to take him down. In Iron Man 2, Nick Fury recruited Natasha at SHIELD to get close to Tony. He trusted her as an intelligence officer to get his intel right under the nose of Captain America. So, he will meet her little sister and the woman who got to break free from the Red Room. It is unlikely that he will have a significant role in the future Black Widow story, but he would know about Yelena’s efforts.
