Recalling Snoop Dogg Stoners Anthem

In his video, Snoop Dogg, of all people, doesn’t beat around the bush about what day it is (via Yardie). With a lighthearted nod to Cee-Lo (Green, get it? ), “Stoner’s Anthem” off Snoop’s new digital-only Stoner’s EP is a predictably laid-back hymn to, well, guess what, and the mind-expanding revelation that James Brown persuaded Compton’s mellowest not to chop his hair. In addition, the gratuitous displays of Snoop’s huge supply equate to pot porn while the straightforward graphics simply show him smoking while lounging around in a yellow T-shirt and hairnet.

A ‘not for fans ‘ critic for Snoop Dogg Stoners Anthem

Source Rating

HipHopDX music journalist Phillip Mlynar gave Stoner’s EP an average review.

“Weed-based rap music will not really always have to be sluggish and laid back, as most of the production on Stoner’s EP,” he said, awarding the album two out of five stars. Rappers like Curren$y and Action Bronson, who parade around with a joint always dangling from their lips, produce some of the most hyped rap music around. Snoop, however, has made a more terrible mistake by conflating being comfortable with becoming lazy with the publication of this odd EP. The next time, have someone wake him up.

The New Snoop Dogg Stoners Anthem

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa will have enough music to perform together when they come to a city near you this summer for The High Road Tour since they already have a full collaboration album under their belts. However, the film Mac & Devin Go to High School was released in 2011. Since then, they have worked together a few times, and they now have another collaboration to add to their collection.

Cheech and Chong are back again in the rap game for “Kush Ups,” another song with a herbal bent that will be on Snoop’s upcoming 14th solo album, Cool Aid, which will be released on July 1.

Given that both of these men are extremely thin, kush ups may not be as effective as push-ups in terms of gaining muscle mass. But they sound tasty…
