Netflix has released a brief teaser for the Squid Game season 2, the popular Korean drama series, as well as a message from creator, writer, director, and executive producer Hwang Dong-Hyuk detailing which characters will return for the web series.

“Squid Game” is a South Korean fictional drama in which contestants in desperate need of money compete in lethal children’s games for cash prizes.

Some Characters Confirmed for ‘Squid Game’ Season 2

Hwang confirmed several narratives and character information in the Sunday release.

“And now, Gi-hun is back,” Hwang explained. “The Front Man is back. Season 2 is on the way. It’s possible that the man in the suit with ddakji will return. Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-Su, will also be presented.”

Netflix released a 10-second teaser trailer that showcases the show’s first episode’s gigantic robotic doll.

Gong Yoo’s character, the man in the suit with ddakji,  MIGHT BE RETURNING TO THE SHOW!

If you recall from the first episode, the man in the suit was the one who invited Gi-hun to play the Squid Game.

They collaborated on Ddakji. Ddakji is a traditional South Korean game in which one person attempts to throw his or her tile in such a way that it flips over the tile of the other player.

The role of Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-Jae, the protagonist of the Korean drama, will also be there in ‘Squid Game’ season 2.

The series was a global success

The show was well-received around the world and shattered viewership records; fans were binge-watching the episode due to the engagement as viewers were really involved while watching the Korean thriller web series.

With 1.65 billion hours of viewing in the first 28 days following its debut, it is the first Korean series on the platform to reach No. 1 in the United States.

Why Squid Game is so popular?

Squid Game, a Korean sitcom, is on its way to becoming the most popular show on Netflix ever, in a move that no one anticipated coming. Since its debut on Rotten Tomatoes, the show has received a perfect score from critics.

In the entertainment industry, South Korean pop culture is a force to be reckoned with. Korean entertainment has left a large footprint, which I believe is only the beginning, thanks to musical talents such as PSY, BTS, and BLACKPINK, as well as films like Train to Busan and Parasite. Popularity is not limited to Korean films and television series.

Meanwhile, “Squid Game” has established itself as a major awards contender. Netflix is currently running an FYC campaign during the Emmy season after receiving a number of nominations at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, including wins for Lee Jung-Jae and HoYeon Jung in their respective gendered categories for outstanding performances in a Korean drama series.
