The USGA and The R&A have announced the prize money and purse distribution for the U.S. Open, which is open to amateurs and professionals. A record $15 million in prize money will be distributed at the 107th U.S. Open, which will take place July 10-14, 2020, at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Monterey, Calif. AUGUST, Georgia. Scheffler finished 1 short Sunday and 10 sharp in the Master’s rankings, three strokes ahead of second-placed Masters ranking Rory McIlroy.
McIlroy scored in the 8-under-64 round of the tournament, the lowest total in Masters history. Despite not living to see his career Grand Slam, McIlroy still won money on Sunday.
The 2022 Masters Scholarship was set at a record $15 million, $3.5 million more than any previous tournament edition. Scheffler will take home 18% of that amount ($2.7 million) to win the Augusta National and defeat the hugely talented Masters camp. This $2.7 million is the same scholarship given to the entire Masters camp when Tiger Woods won his first green jacket in 1997.
Although McIlroy did not receive the coveted green jacket, he will demand $1.62 million. This is more than the odds of winning almost every professional golf tournament worldwide in any given year. In fact, 2022 is also the first Master’s tournament where the third-place winner will receive a seven-figure payout. More than the entire group took home when Jack Nicklaus won the 1986 Masters.

Cameron Smith finished second on Sunday, trying to edge out Scheffler in the green jacket. Unfortunately, he couldn’t keep up with Scheffler and scored a triple bugbear for 12, knocking him out of second place in a third-place tie with Shane Lowry.
Instead of claiming McIlroy’s $1.62 million price tag, he would earn roughly half that amount with him and Lowry, splitting the next two $870,000 prizes. When golfers rank, their market share is the average of what they would pay those competitors if they took the lead. Any professional golfer who scores less than 50 points will receive cash prizes of $36,900 or more depending on their points and course finish. A total of 52 golfers made a list this year.
