In Houston, Texas in 1953, an aged widow lives in a three-room flat with her son and daughter-in-law. Mrs. Watts believes that if she could just get back to Bountiful, her hometown, she could reclaim her strength, dignity, and peace of mind. Mrs. Watts’ physical and emotional journey home is chronicled in The Trip to Bountiful.
