The Pittsburgh Penguins, in partnership with the PWHPA, will host Rivalry Rematch on March 12 between Team Canada and Team USA.

The two top teams in women’s hockey are headed to Pittsburgh later this month. 

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Tuesday afternoon that the enterprise, in partnership with the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association, will host “Rivalry Rematch” on Saturday, March 12th at PPG Paints Arena. 

Rivalry Rematch is a sport that capabilities some of the exceptional skills that ladies’s hockey has to offer, pitting Team Canada towards Team USA in a rematch of the gold medal game that recently passed off on the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. 

Team Canada emerged victorious from that matchup with a powerful 3-2 win over their heated competitors, taking pictures Olympic gold from the USA in dramatic style after they toppled Canada on the previous Games in 2018. 

“The Penguins are venerated to aid the Canadian and USA girls’s hockey all-stars coming back from Beijing and host the Rivalry Rematch at PPG Paints Arena,” stated Penguins president and CEO David Morehouse in a declaration on Tuesday. 

“Growing the game of ice hockey in any respect tiers has been at the muse of our franchise over the past 15 years. There is no doubt these ladies athletes have motivated and advanced the sport of hockey for women, no longer best in Pittsburgh, however across North America. We are thrilled to host some of the high-quality gamers inside the world in the front of our enthusiasts.”

While maximum players who participated in that gold medal matchup from a few weeks ago could be taking element within the Rivalry Rematch, one member of Team Canada’s vaunted assault will, unluckily, be absent. Olympic rookie Sarah Fillier will be not able to attend the contest set for later this month, with the high-scoring winger returning to school at Princeton after taking pictures gold. 

Fillier’s absence will absolutely be felt during Canada’s lineup. But the nation nevertheless has a bevy of stars at its disposal, with captain Marie-Philip Poulin, Sarah Nurse, and Brianne Jenner, among others, set to defend their international title.
