Wyze is responsible for some of the most affordable smart home devices, like home security cameras and light bulbs. They have come up with a smartwatch that is inexpensive compared to other brands. It is priced at only $20 with an additional $6 for shipping, which is an exceptionally affordable option for those people who are not sure whether or not they should buy a smartwatch.
Therefore, another prospective group of customers for this device are the people who own a bunch of smart home gadgets developed by Wyze itself. The watch lets you set up “Shortcuts” and control the devices with a few taps on your wrist; this creates an integrated environment for the devices.
Since, this watch is so inexpensive; it would be unfair to compare it with smartwatches like the Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch. Still, the features it provides in this price range will at least give you an idea about how a smartwatch functions, which will make it easier for you to decide whether or not you should invest in a smartwatch.
Wyze watch comes in 2 variants; Wyze Watch 44 and Wyze Watch 47.
Now, apart from their size, these are different in some of the features also.
The basic similarities between the two are as follows:
- Aluminum Frame
- Pulse Oximeter (On-demand)
- Heart rate sensor (On-demand or continuous)
- Step Counter
- Menstrual Tracking
- Activity Tracking (for running only)
- Sleep Tracking
- Integration with other Wyze gadgets via “Shortcuts”
- IP68 water resistance
- Notifications (via smartphone)
Although, both the variants have notable differences in both their hardware and software specifications.
Hardware specs for both are as follows;
Wyze Watch 44:
- 1.4” touch TFT [email protected]×320
- 100 + 150 dual-core MCU processor
- 288 KB + 8 MB RAM
- 16 MB storage
- 250 mAh battery
- Bluetooth 5.0
Wyze Watch 47:
- 1.75” touch TFT [email protected]×385
- 96 MHz processor
- 512 KB RAM
- 16 MB storage
- 300 mAh battery
- Bluetooth 5.0
There isn’t much difference in the performance of these two as one of them has a faster processor and the other has more RAM. Since, it doesn’t support any third-party apps or add-ons, it works smoothly.
The build quality of these watches is surprisingly good. However, 44 have more bezel area than 47, and they are square-cornered and rounded corners, respectively. It feels somewhat premium when you hold it in your hands. Although, the band is silicone, it feels pretty cheap, but that shouldn’t be a problem since it is replaceable.
Both the watches use a magnetic charger on their back. Charging cable does feel pretty cheap and it has to be handled carefully while charging the watches, as sometimes it disconnects automatically, you have to be delicate with the charger.
The core functions of these watches are almost identical but they have different layouts. Some of the features you get in these watches are;
- Customizable watch faces
- Run tracking
- Heart rate tracking
- Pulse oximeter
- Menstrual tracking
The user interface in the 47 version is better than that of 44. It provides you more watch faces and also displays step counters, calories, and heart rate.
When we talk about navigation it usually is one swipe from the watch face, just as like any other smart watch. In case of 47 you will have much of this info on home itself, but in 44 home only consists of an image and time.
The app drawer on the 44 displays names with icons, which makes it easier to locate but on 47 its icons only, and after opening the app, the difference is in UI only, but basic functionality is same.
The “Shortcuts” app is a useful feature for people who has another smart home device from Wyze since it helps you to remotely control those devices.
Now you have all the information to select the perfect fir for yourself. In our opinion both watches very similar features but the user interface and hardware are comparatively better in 47 than 44. Overall the watches have a good classy look though sometimes the band might feel a bit cheap but you have the option of buying new ones.
