Perched on a bluff alongside Big Sur’s south coast, Kirk Creek Campground is arguably one of the maximum lovely coastal campgrounds in California. The campground sits 100 ft above the sea, and this perspective gives beautiful perspectives of the Santa Lucia mountains as they run in the direction of the Pacific.

All sites have scenic ocean views, and the sites closer to the ocean offer a bit more buffer from Highway 1 and unobstructed vistas which can be hard to conquer. All sites are grassy and open, with restricted herbal coloration to be had. Hiker and biker walk-in sites are supplied adjacent to a eucalyptus grove, slightly eliminated from the relaxation of the campground. There aren’t any RV hookups, but many sites can accommodate large cars.

The campground is adjacent to Kirk Creek, which flows into the Pacific at a small rocky seashore only a brief stroll down a path. The seaside is ideal for fishing. Five miles south is beautiful Sand Dollar Beach, Big Sur’s largest stretch of sand, and one this is popular with beachcombers, surfers, and anglers. The mountains growing in the back of the campground provide extra hiking, biking and horseback riding options.

While Kirk Creek is a phenomenal coastal campground, there is a catch: the small quantity of sites make obtaining a reservation difficult. If you’re inquisitive about tenting at Kirk Creek, plan early; reservations are regularly occurring up to 6 months earlier. Also, observe that there’s no water at Kirk Creek Campground, so make sure to carry your own or fill your containers at close by Limekiln State Park.
