Where is the Guadeloupe park located?
Are you planning to visit Guadeloupe Park – The park is located an hour north of San Antonio and 30 minutes from the charming town of Berne. Or take an inside camera or raft and sail down the river through easy rapids and beautiful countryside.
The Guadalupe River State Park Main Walking Trail starts at the park entrance, at the end of the short dirt road on the right, just past the ticket office. There is ample parking space, at least in part because most park visitors come here for camping and picnicking along the Guadalupe River. A walking path along Cibolo Creek connects the park to Main Street Plaza Park and the Kendall Hotel. The park is also the starting point for a new 8-mile rowing trail at Guadalupe River State Park.
The park has four miles of riverfront for canoeing, fishing, swimming and boating. People also enjoy swimming and fishing in the river, both of which are permitted in the park. The river is regularly stocked with trout, and anglers can fish in the park without a fishing license (as in any state park).
Where are all the trails for hiking and biking in the park?
Nearly 2,000 acres of parkland offer hiking, biking, and horse trails. The park has 13 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, and for those looking for a more pristine and challenging hike, the park also has a Bauer ride. The park is divided into two pedestrian areas, north and south, by the river.
There’s also a Discovery Center with interactive exhibits highlighting all the natural wonders the park has to offer. The Cedar Sage Trail ends at the Discovery Center, a small museum filled with interactive exhibits that showcase the park’s natural features. On Saturdays, you can sign up for a 2-hour guided tour of the Honey Creek Wildlife Sanctuary.
Featuring 94 single-family sites, Guadalupe River State Park Campground is located along the river in a scenic area just a short drive from San Antonio and Austin. There are 2 campsites, Cedar Sage has small spaces, so they are mainly for campers. The two campsites at the front of the village have tent and camper sites, water and toilets, but no showers or connections.
Can I also Rent Backpacks or buy things in the park?
Backpacks can be rented on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 to 17:00. Guadalupe River State Park offers customized hikes, programs, and other resource-based programs for school church groups, Scout Troops, and many other organizations. Buy gifts, firewood, ice and essentials from our store in the park.
This children’s building houses several exhibits that showcase the natural wealth of the park and its surroundings and offer children and adults a closer look at the natural world around them.
Most of the car park is adjacent to the main bathing area of the Guadalupe Rivers, from where you can easily access the Interpretation Center, the Discovery Center and the Wildlife Observation Area. This Texas Hill country park has 4 miles of access to the Guadalupe River, making the water the centre of attention for a visit. North of San Antonio, on the eastern edge of the Hill Country, is the Guadalupe River State Park (sometimes referred to as “Guadalupe State Park”), which is one of the main recreational areas on this beautiful river. Guadalupe River State Park is located 40 miles north of San Antonio and 80 miles southwest of Austin, in Comal and Kendall counties.
Continue past the 8-mile intersection with US Hwy 281 to the park entrance. The Guadalupe River winds its way up steep limestone cliffs through four natural rapids on a winding trail through the park. While flooding temporarily closed the park, there’s no reason it shouldn’t reopen once the area dries up, after which it will continue to be a favourite centre for Guadeloupe tubers.
Where can I stay for the night near the park?
If you want to live as close to the park as possible, rental sites like Airbnb and VRBO offer cabins and other accommodations on or by the river. Vacationers without pre-booking should head to the office and check the bulletin board on the side of the office to see if there are open areas with sliding glass doors.
Texas Park Outfitters rents and installs camping equipment at the park. For more information and order their services, visit the Texas Park Outfitters website. Guadalupe River State Park is located at 3350 Park Road 31, Spring Branch, Texas 78070, and their phone number is (830) 438-2656.
